Corry Boys Soccer Earn First Win Of The Year Over Oil City

The Corry Beavers traveled down to Oil City for a boys soccer match on Friday night looking for their first win on the year. They would do just that with a 3-0 shutout over the Oilers.


Corry had 3 different goalscorers in the game. After a quick start that saw several high quality chances in the first 15 minutes, Gavin Kent, Aidan Gluvna, and Brock Anthony put together a quick 4-pass combination with Brock sending the ball through for Gavin to score.


Later on in the first half, Jonas Anthony picked up the ball around midfield and made a great run through the Oil City defense to score his third goal of the season. Finally, in the second half, Levi Merrill scored a close-range volley off a free kick assist from Jonas Anthony to finish the game off.


Gavin Munsee had two saves, with the defense holding strong to help him keep a clean sheet. Gavin Kent had three shots with a goal, Jonas Anthony had four shots with a goal and an assist, Apache Swanson had two shots, Brock Anthony had one assist, Levi Merrill had a shot for a goal, and Tyler Biondi also contributed a shot.


Corry gets there first win of the year and have a 1-12-2 on the season. Corry will travel to Mercyhurst on Tuesday to take on the Lakers.
