Corry faced off against Seneca in girls' basketball action Thursday afternoon. On the road is always challenging , but the Beavers got the job done and left Wattsburg with a 21-18 win.
The Beavers started strong by holding the Bobcats scoreless in the first with a score of 6-0. Seneca battled back in the second before Corry netted a couple baskets to head into halftime up 11-8.
The second half proved to be just as tight as the first. Corry was able to hold Seneca to three points in the third while scoring five of their own. Starting the 4th quarter up 16-11, the Beavers knew they couldn't let up. They continued applying ball pressure and played great team defense. The Lady Beavers were able to make their foul shots down the stretch to earn the victory with a final score of 21-18.
Overall, I was really pleased with how we played today. The girls controlled the glass by grabbing 22 rebounds, forced 10 steals, and limited our turnovers to only 10. It was a great team win against a tough Seneca team.
Ava West finished with eight points, eight rebounds, one assist, six steals, and two blocks. Maci Kemp had four points, four rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block. Baylee Northrop finished with four points and three rebounds. Mikayla Comitz had three points, one rebound, and two steals. Liv Swan had two points, three rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Jordyn Watrous finished with three rebounds.
