The first quarter and a half was a learning curve for the girls. North East was running a new defense that took our girls some time to figure out. They started seeing the openings a few minutes before halftime so they were really excited to get back out there.

In the third, Fairview continued where they left off by scoring 10 while Corry could only muster up five points, three from Comitz and two from Kemp. With Corry down by three at the end of quarter three, the Beavers knew it was now or never. They had six minutes to play Corry Basketball. Six minutes to give maximum effort, great energy, and enjoy the last quarter of middle school basketball.
The girls did exactly that. The young lady Beavers poured in 11 points with Comitz earning four points, West with three points, and Northrup and and Kemp with two points each while simultaneously holding the Tigers to just three points. With Corry's monster fourth quarter, the Beavers earned the win 28-23 and with it they claimed the tournament championship.

I can't say enough about this team. They are a great group of young ladies who are coachable, hardworking, smart, adaptive, and funny. They finished off their middle school season on a nine game win streak, we're playing great team basketball, and we're playing some really tough defense. I'm looking forward to seeing what these girls can do in the years to come.
