Corry Volleyball JV Coach
Corry JV beat their Iroquois opponents in 2 quick sets in the Beaver Dam on Tuesday night. It was not a close match, but the goal was to keep focused and execute good volleyball even when the match did not seem highly competitive. For the most part, Corry was up to that task. Corry out hustled Iroquois, and brought a competitive spirit throughout the match.
Corry JV led in all of the statistical categories, including serving, passing, hitting, setting, and defense. Everyone on the roster got to see some playing time and it was a great opportunity to learn how to play with consistency even when Corry had a big lead. Corry servers combined for a 92% serving percentage and as team notched 23 kills on 46 attempts. I thought there was a good team mindset going into the match. Everyone knew that energetic play would play an important role in keeping focused, but knowing and doing are sometimes hard to accomplish. Tonight the mission was accomplished.
DS, Ellie Carey, had a good night at the service line with 10 service points and 2 aces. MH, Morgan Vanderschaaff, led the team with three aces. OH Lauren Brundage had a team high 6 kills while MH Rylee Nickerson, OH Regan Kemp, and RH Shawntel Dyne each notched 4 kills. Brundage had 6 digs followed by Carey and Libero Ali Yetzer who both had 5. Setter, Naomi Brown, led the team with 15 assists.
Corry JV improves to 3-1 on the year and will host the Cathedral Prep Ramblers tonight Wednesday, Sept 18th, in the Beaver Dam. JV opening serve is at 6:00 PM with Varsity action to follow.
