Corry Middle School Football Coach

The Middle school football team ended their season Wednesday night on a high note as they picked up the win over West Lake, one of three middle schools from McDowell. Corry defeated the Trojans 22-14.

The Beavers Defense had 5 takeaways, three of them were fumble recoveries. Players who got the fumble recoveries were Lucas Waychoff, Levi Knapp and Matthew Fuller. Landon Walizer had two interceptions while Eli Bayle had three pass deflections and Jordan Nutt with two.

Lucas Waychoff ended with 186 yards on the ground with three touchdowns and 35 yards receiving. Robert Cummings had 35 yards passing and 12 yards on the ground. Landon Walizer added both successful two point conversions by catching passes from Cummings.

Waychoff is fun to watch. He is just a seventh grader that can turn any play into a score. We are losing a lot of starters on the line and in the receiver position but also bringing back a lot of young guys in skilled positions. We have a 4 guy rotation on every play so a lot of young guys got a lot of reps this year.

We are losing Brody Nickerson, Kayden Doutt, Lennon Hill, Levi Knapp, Hunter Donoghue, Bentley Luther, Asher Pillar, Landon Walizer, Sabastian Servidio, Matthew Fuller, Ashyen Woods, Talian Hartman, Joey Palzer, Connar Simmons, Braiden Greer and Parker Savitz. Savitz wasn't able to play a snap all year because of a knee injury he suffered during wrestling season but I fully expect him to be back and fun to watch the next 4 years at the next level. We told the guys at the end of the game to put in the work to get bigger, faster and stronger for the next level.

The Beavers ended the season with a 3-5 record on the season but their are plenty of bright spots to watch as these young men continue to learn and grow.
