Thursday night, Corry played their first home game of the season where they hosted Iroquois. It was also senior night where we had the opportunity to celebrate Morgan Martin, Ava Whiteley, Tenley Janes, Delaney Nickerson, Mallory Dahlgren, Ellie Curtis, and Lindsey Hasbrouck. We also celebrated our team manager Ellie Simmons who was not able to attend.
It was a pretty uneventful first half. Corry came out playing really slow and hesitant, especially coming off our game against Meadville on Monday where the pace was very fast the entire time.
Marleigh Martin got us started scoring in the first half off a clean break and a nicely placed ball to the corner of the net, out of the goalie's reach. In the second half, we woke up and started to play our style of soccer. We utilized our teammates and set up our shots.
The second goal came from Martin again off a corner kick from Tenley Janes. The third goal was scored by Ava Wetherbee off a cross from Mahra Goodwill. Goal number four was freshman Laikynn Bayle scoring her first goal, and our fifth and final goal came from Mahra Goodwill off another corner kick from Tenley Janes.
Next up is another home game against Oil City on Saturday. The lady Beavers Host the Oilers at Sheen Field at 10:00 AM. If you can’t make it to the game you can catch all the action live on the DeeJ Experience Sports Stream at www.deejexperience.com/corry-beavers .
